Meet the Dogs of Scottish Gin 2020!

Over the years, we’ve got to know a lot about the Scottish Gin community. And one thing we’ve learned is that aside from a love of juniper-based drinks, many of them share another great passion. Their beloved dogs.

So, while niche dog calendars are not unheard of (Remember the Waterskiing Westies?), this year sees the launch of an incredibly exciting and unique calendar – one that celebrates the ‘ Scottish Gin Dogs’.

This marvellous idea came from Tabatha and Phil Cox, the husband and wife team behind Pentland Hills Gin. Their love for their 4-legged friends is immortalised on every bottle of their gin, which features an illustration of their chocolate labrador, Panza.

The charity calendar boasts 12 entries, submitted from around the Scottish Gin community, from distilleries to bars, featuring adorable pictures of their canine friends, along with an exclusive gin cocktail recipe each month and details of each contributor’s chosen charity.

Money raised from sales of the calendar will be donated to the very worthy chosen causes – including SAMH, Poppy Scotland, The RAF Benevolent Fund and The Highland Hospice.

Tabitha (and Panza) told us:

“We had great fun compiling the calendar – clearly there are a lot of dogs out there running Distilleries! I’m delighted that Scotland’s Bravest Manufacturer, who employ Veterans, were able to undertake the printing of the calendar and that so many charities will benefit from the sales. All I can add is a big WOOF from Panza, he and his canine pals who will certainly be the stars of 2020.”

While The Scottish Gin Society team haven’t quite got around to making our Christmas lists yet, we know which calendar we’ll be hanging on our walls come 2020 – not just for the fantastic shots of the cute dogs, but also to try out the cocktail recipes and support the excellent charities.

The Scottish Gin Dog calendar’ can be purchased here and will also be available through the participating distilleries and bars websites, shops and events which they are attending. The calendar will be RRP £15 incl. postage with £6 from every calendar being paid by the participants directly to their chosen charity.
