Sea Glass Gin wins at Great British Food Awards 2019

There were big celebrations going on at Deerness Distillery this week as it was revealed that their Sea Glass Gin came out top of the Classic Gin category in the prestigious Great British Food Awards 2019.

The Orkney-based distillery beat 14 other shortlisted gins to win the category, that was judged by the legendary chef and owner of Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons, Raymond Blanc.

Stuart Brown, Managing Director of Deerness Distillery told us:

“Our Sea Glass Gin Winning the UK’s best classic gin category in the Great British Food Awards 2019 is amazing, especially being judged by the fabulous Raymond Blanc!!!. The whole team here at Deerness Distillery is over the moon.”

The Great British Food Awards were launched in 2014 to celebrate the United Kingdom’s finest home-grown ingredients, as well as the hard-working folk who produce and cook with them. A team of celebrity judges have the enviable job of sampling the entries and choosing overall winners in each category.

Sea Glass Gin is carefully crafted from start to finish at Deerness Distillery. The multi-award-winning gin takes you on a pleasurable sensory journey through warm spices, hints of citrus and of course juniper. Sea Glass Gin is created to be a reflection of the Orkney Islands’ ever-changing seascape.

We’re really delighted for Stuart and all the team at Deerness Distillery for this well-deserved accolade!
