Raven Spirits bags Gold and Silver at International Awards

We’re delighted to hear that Raven Spirits Limited has taken home yet more medals at this year’s International Gin Masters.

The prestigious awards, run by The Spirits Business to identify some of the best gin brands in the world, recognised Raven Spirits new HRAFN GIN ‘Valhalla’ with a Gold Medal in the Ultra-Premium category and a Silver in the London Dry category.

Callum Sim, Managing Director and co-founder of Raven Spirits Limited said:

“The GLOBAL SPIRIT MASTERS are internationally renowned for their high standards and the quality of their panels’ judging. To have HRAFN GIN ‘Valhalla’ recognised with a Gold and Silver Medal in the International Gin Masters is a huge accolade for us. Especially when you consider that we only launched ‘Valhalla’ a few weeks prior to winning this award.

We are honoured and humbled by the result and are extremely proud to stand in such august company as the other winners.”

It’s a double celebration for Aberdeen-based Raven Spirits, as it comes on the anniversary of their success last year at the Gin Masters when their signature gin HRAFN GIN ‘Thought & Memory’ was also awarded gold – just weeks after being launched.

Peter Sim, Operations Director and co-founder of Raven Spirits Limited said:

“The Gold Medal is very special to us, as it was achieved at a blind tasting by the experts from within the industry.  It reminds us of last year – now it is two brothers, two ravens, two gins and two golds!  We are too delighted.”

HRAFN GIN ‘Valhalla’ is best enjoyed neat on the rocks with a twist of lemon peel.  It also can be lengthened with a low quinine tonic and the recommended ratio of gin to tonic is 1:1. Take it nice and slow and savour the complex and deep flavours.

Nose: Juniper swelling into spiced mandarin.
Taste: Creamy and smooth in the mouth. The initial taste of classic herbaceous juniper.  Then the journey crackles into warming spices and bursts of pepper that eventually completes into a citrus slide of deepening mandarin intensity that linger on the palate.
Finish: Long lingering finish of mandarin with prickles of spice.

With a drop of water, the sweeter elements of taste are emphasised and with mandarin in the finish, Valhalla, is lengthened to a very satisfying end. This is an elegant and refined gin that needs no adornments or additions.

Both expressions of Hrafn Gin are available from www.hrafngin.com with free P&P within the UK.
