The Boe family perfect pours

Colourful and distinctive, the family of Boe gins and liqueurs adds a vibrant splash to any gin shelf, but what about the spirit itself?

Named after renowned Professor Franz de la Boë (the first person to make gin!), this range of Scottish Gins are handcrafted in small batches, using rare hand-picked botanicals and spices to produce high quality, distinctive gins and gin liqueurs.

Each of the spirits can be enjoyed on its own, or in a selection of sumptuous cocktails, but we thought we’d try each of the Boe perfect pours, and here’s what we thought.

Boe Superior Gin & Tonic

Boe Superior Gin & Tonic

A classic combination:

  • 50ml Boe Superior Gin
  • Plenty of big ice cubes
  • Premium tonic water
  • Slice of fresh orange
  • Cinnamon stick

This is a really great gin and tonic.  Warm and slightly spicy, accentuated by the zesty orange and cinnamon, but finishing off with pleasing floral notes.  This is a G&T combination we’ll be trying again and again.

Boe Violet Gin & Tonic

Boe Violet Gin & Tonic

Something distinctive:

  • 50ml Boe Violet Gin
  • Plenty of big ice cubes
  • Premium tonic water
  • A wedge of pink grapefruit
  • Handful of blueberries

The delightful violet colour of the neat gin becomes a delicate tint with the addition of the tonic water.  This refreshing serve transported us back to our childhood with a gentle reminder of sweet parma violets. Floral, delicate and surprisingly light on the sweetness, this G&T was a very refreshing and welcome change on a sunny afternoon.

The Royale Boe

The Royale Boe

A twist on the traditional Kir Royale:

  • 50ml Boe Bramble Liqueur
  • Good quality Prosecco
  • Blackberries to garnish

For a dreamy Prosecco cocktail, you just need to add this impressive blackberry liqueur.   While the flavour of the prosecco still shines through in the bubbles. you get a wonderful taste of rich, sweet brambles that lingers on the tongue.

The Boelini

The Boelini

A great play on the classic Bellini:

  • 50ml Boe Peach and Hibiscus Liqueur
  • Good Quality Prosecco
  • Fresh Scottish Raspberries to garnish
  • Or Dried Hibiscus flowers

Just the sight of this elegant and undoubtedly feminine drink instantly transported our thoughts to sunny summer garden parties.  You feel sophisticated just holding it!  This cocktail is absolutely bursting with rich flavours of ripe peach, with an added subtle floral note coming through on the crisp bubbles.
