Loch Achall Gin, distilled with passion in the glens of Scotland

We’ve only recently learned about Loch Achall Gin by Rhidorroch Distillery (launched in November 2020), which is based just outside of Ullapool in the Highlands of Scotland.

For the distillery founder, Katie, distilling quality spirits had been a dream for 10 years, so she developed Rhidorroch Distillery after coming home from years of travelling around the world, working in and visiting different distilleries.  Katie’s family grew up in the Glen where the distillery is located and her oldest sister now owns and runs the estate from where the water from the loch and botanicals from the hills is used to make the gin.

Katie’s youngest sister runs The Seafood Shack in Ullapool where the distillery has a Pop-Up for the summer selling bottles, G&Ts and gin cocktails.

Loch Achall Gin is a complex blend including gorse flower, rowan berries and heather, which are all picked in the Glen as well as a little juniper.  It is distilled and cut back using the crisp water from the loch.

The botanicals and passion distilled in the gin ensures a distinctive flavour with floral notes and a hint of citrus.  Each bottle of Loch Achall Gin is hand written with its Bottle, Batch and Year on 700ML bottles at 38% Vol.

If you’re visiting Ullapool over the summer, you can try the gin at the Seafood Shack or you can get a bottle from the Distillery website.
