New mini-gin gift set from Lanarkshire Gin Alliance

This is the time of year for people to get together and, although it’s unfortunately not something we will be able to do much of this year, we are very excited to let you know about a fantastic Scottish Gin collaboration that is delivering something very special just in time for Christmas.

The newly-founded Lanarkshire Gin Alliance (LGA) is pleased to announce the release of its first gin collaboration. Available now, the taste of Lanarkshire ‘mini-gin’ gift set includes five double measures, each gin has been chosen to represent the distillers favourite gin expressions.

The collaboration is designed to offer Scottish Gin lovers chance to sample some of the finest handcrafted small-batch gins from Lanarkshire, and within this one box, you may rediscover old favourites or discover new ones.

The Alliance came into being because the LGA’s gin distillers love giving one another a hand and this small selection of gins seems the perfect way to let the gin-loving public enjoy their art.

The 5 distilleries are Biggar Gin, Inspirited Dry Gin, Pentland Hills Gin, McLean’s Gin and The Wee Farm Distillery – what a line-up! Here’s a bit more about them:

Biggar Gin is a family run business started owned by 2 brothers. Their ethos is based around a philosophy of combining the traditional with innovation. This small-batch gin has a Biggar mentality, it is mellow, aromatic with a hint of hedgerows married with gentle spice. The smooth palette offers almost creamy juniper and a citrus burst.  Best served with original tonic water, plenty of ice and a twist of orange peel.  www.biggargin.com

Inspirited Dry Gin is the personalised gin-making experience which affords you the experience of creating your own gin our trying one of their own perfectly balanced varieties. The Inspirited Original is pleasingly aromatic and leads with piney juniper. It has a dry palate with juniper and zesty citrus notes which finishes with a warming spice. Serve with Fever-Tree Aromatic tonic, a slice of chilli and lots of ice.  www.inspirited.co.uk

Pentland Hills Gin is a tiny distillery, the Company’s ethos is based upon sustainability and it is only one of a handful of distilleries that offers a refill service. The original gin has a fragrant and fresh nose with a hint of mint and oranges. Refreshing and smooth the nose is floral and the finish offers a hint of chocolate. Serve over ice with a simple tonic and a wedge of pink grapefruit.  www.pentlandhillsgin.com

McLean’s Gin was born in Colin and Jessica McLean’s cupboard! The distillery now produces a range of colourful, quirky craft gins from a purpose-built ‘Gin Lab’ outside Strathaven. The ‘Something Blue’ gin is fresh with a floral hint of lavender and violet. The finish is refreshing, subtly sweet and not so subtly moreish. Serve with Fever-Tree Mediterranean tonic over ice and garnished with mint, cucumber, pink grapefruit or blueberries. www.mcleansgin.co.uk

The Wee Farm Distillery near Forth is home to Drover, Clydesdale and Farmer strength gin. The gins are distilled to align with the taste of the seasons. The Clydesdale Gin has fruity notes of rhubarb and apple, the palette is classically botanical with a sweet and fruity finish. Serve over ice with Fever-Tree Mediterranean tonic and garnished with a slice of fresh apple.  www.theweefarmdistillery.co.uk

This venture follows on from a highly successful virtual gin tasting event and the current climate is difficult for small independent businesses, so this seemed just the right thing to do.

And we loved the fact that the collaboration included a clandestine gin handover in a Covid 19 compliant manner in a car park!!

The LGA is enormously grateful to all its our customers and they hope that this wee box will bring a bit of joy as we continue to head on through lockdown.  Just to add to the cheer each box also contains a 10% discount note so you can enjoy a normal-sized bottle of your favourite Lanarkshire tipple for even less.

You will find the box available on all the websites listed above and it can also be purchased from Jaro Designs of Strathaven at www.jarodesign.co.uk

The Lanarkshire Gin Alliance ‘mini gin’ gift set really is the perfect present for the gin lover in your life and we hope you will support these amazing gin businesses at this difficult time.
