Makar Cherry Gin Crowned World’s Best at World Gin Awards

The awards cabinet at The Glasgow Distillery must be almost full! Adding to their impressive haul of awards, their Makar Cherry Gin picked up the title of ‘World’s Best Flavoured Gin’ at the prestigious World Gin Awards 2019 on Thursday.

And it really is a big deal. The World Gin Awards celebrates the very best in all internationally recognised styles of gin and globally promotes the winning gins. This year the competition had over 4000 gin entries, who went through a three-step judging process by industry experts, including high profile journalists, specialist drinks retailers and leading distillers.

Makar Cherry Gin was judged against other gins from both abroad and domestic markets, including countries such as Norway, Belgium and Canada, ultimately coming out on top and scooping the title of ‘World’s Best Flavoured Gin’.

The new world’s best-flavoured gin is made by infusing ripe, seasonal fresh cherries and a sprinkling of pink peppercorn in Makar’s Original Dry Gin, before being pressed to release maximum flavour and is bottled at 40% ABV. Mike Hayward, Co-founder of The Glasgow Distillery Company, the distillery behind Makar Gin, said:
