Over Christmas and New Year 2018/2019 Mark and Alison Hazell undertook a building project on their old lean-to shed, to make their own still house. Using reclaimed materials and a lot of TLC, their distillery dream became a reality.
One still is manufactured from a 50 litre stainless steel keg from their brewery – Jaw Brew, together with a reflux column and condenser made from redundant copper pipe taken out of their house heating system. The stills for the subsequent distillations are 25 litre T-500s. The botanicals specific to Bardowie gin are foraged within a few metres of the distillery, making this a truly sustainable distillery.
