The McQueen Forest Fruits Colour Changing Gin Story
In 2015, married couple Dale and Vicky McQueen made the decision to change their careers and home and – very long story short – McQueen Gin was born! McQueen Gin was created with the aim of generating an adventurous gin drinking experience which is unlike any other, bringing unique and exciting flavours to the market which meet the demands of the ever-evolving audience of gin lovers.
After months of research and experimentation, this innovative gin brand started its journey by creating 4 world firsts within the core range – Sweet Citrus, Smokey Chilli, Mocha, and Chocolate Mint. They added their multi-award winning Super Premium Dry Gin in November 2016 and Spiced Chocolate Orange in March 2017. Since then, McQueen Gin has gone from strength to strength, picking up numerous awards for the brand, packaging and products.
In their spirit of continuous innovation to bring new and exciting flavours to the market, Forest Fruits Colour Changing gin was developed and offered exclusively to Aldi, entering the market in 2018 and now available nationally in Aldi stores up and down the UK. And we’re told there are plenty more exciting and unique products in the pipeline where that one came from.
McQueen Forest Fruits is more than a great fruity gin – it’s a sensory experience! The gin is a vibrant blue colour in the bottle, but it dramatically changes colour to a tasteful rose pink when ice and mixer are added. An experience which has been described as ‘magical’ by the many who have tried it. The ‘magic’ comes from the blue petals of the Asian butterfly flower, which change from a pale sapphire to pink when its PH levels are altered.
It’s important to add that the colours and flavours of the gin are 100% natural.

Tasting Notes
Bursting with flavour, McQueen Forest Fruits gin is as you would expect, fresh and fruity on the nose and palate with berry fruits filling the mouth. This is followed by delicious juniper undertones that come through as you indulge yourself in this unique gin adventure.
We can also divulge that other than juniper and fruit, there is angelica and cassia used during distillation, but that’s as close as we’re getting to knowing the secret recipe!
Their perfect serve is aptly named – “The Harlequin”
Ingredients:
- 50ml McQueen Forest Fruits Colour Changing Gin
- Premium Tonic Water
- Frozen Raspberries and Blueberries
- Big ice
Method:
Pour 50ml of McQueen Forest Fruits Colour Changing Gin in a tall glass. Add plenty of ice. Gather your friends and add the tonic water slowly to taste and watch as the gin changes colour from pale sapphire to pink. Garnish with frozen berries and serve.

The Scottish Gin Society verdict
The pure magic of the serve and the delicate colours displayed by this drink might make you expect a strongly fruit-flavoured spirit. However, while this gin is a real treat for anyone who loves fruity gins, the taste is natural, refreshing and exactly what you’d expect from a gin like McQueen. Serve with tonic and plenty of berries and ice and add a little drama to your G&T.
